Scottish Veterans Fund - Small Stream

The Scottish Government

£1,000 - £10,000Scotland

The Scottish Veterans Fund backs projects that benefit ex-Service personnel and their families in Scotland. This Small Stream has £100,000 in total. It welcomes bids for small-scale, one year projects that support veterans and their families in Scotland and bring together serving and veteran communities. The fund is particularly aimed at projects that help veterans overcome disadvantage linked to their service, support a successful move to civilian life, or make Scotland an attractive place for people leaving Service life. New or innovative ideas are welcome but not essential. Projects that address red-rated recommendations from the Scottish Veterans Commissioner are also desirable. The panel looks at the benefit to veterans and their families, and the links made between serving and veteran communities. It does not judge a project by its size. Applications opened on 2 October 2026 and close on 20 November 2026 at 11:59pm. Applicants must be a legal person, such as a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation, a registered company or a statutory body. Unincorporated organisations cannot apply, even if they are registered charities. You also need a presence in Scotland. One practical point to plan for: the fund does not pay for capital works, retrospective costs, or projects with a large share of core administration, staff or running costs. You will need to send your last three audited accounts and your safeguarding policy after you submit. Successful applicants are told the outcome before the end of the 2026/27 financial year, then report after six months and again at the end of the year. DF Capital Foundation Fund

Forever Manchester / DF Capital Foundation

£2,500North West England

The DF Capital Foundation fund offers awards of £2,500 to grassroots community groups in Greater Manchester. It is run by Forever Manchester, which funds and supports community activity across the region. It suits small, local groups. You need to be based in any of the 10 boroughs of Greater Manchester, and your group's annual income must be less than £75,000. Each award is £2,500. The fund is open for applications now. It closes at 12 noon on 22 October 2026, so you will need to move quickly if you want to apply. Many other Forever Manchester funds are not open at the moment, which makes this one of the few currently taking applications. Forever Manchester manages a number of funds. It asks you to call before you apply, so the team can help you choose the best fund for your group. You can reach the Awards Team on 0161 214 0940 or at awards@forevermanchester.com. They can help with deadline dates, eligibility and criteria, or if you run into any problems. Forever Manchester also publishes FAQs that explain how its funding programmes work and who can apply. Its Supporting Information page covers the documents you need when you submit an application. It is worth reading both before you start. Official source: https://forevermanchester.com/funding/. National Lottery Arts and Older People Programme

Arts Council of Northern Ireland

£1,000 - £10,000Northern Ireland

The National Lottery Arts and Older People Programme from the Arts Council of Northern Ireland supports projects that strengthen the voice of older people. It also aims to promote positive mental health and emotional wellbeing by encouraging more older people to take part in the arts. Grants of £1,000 to £10,000 are available. The programme suits constituted community and voluntary groups working locally to support older people, as long as they can show strong partnership working with older people's groups. Non-governmental organisations, local authorities and arts organisations can also apply if they can clearly show partnership working. The funder wants partnership or consortia-based projects. A partnership can be led by an age sector provider, an arts organisation or a local authority. The consortium must include appropriate representatives and show a real commitment to working together. Other specialists who work with older people can be named as partners. Your project should reflect the partnership approach with the older people you plan to engage, and it should have their support in delivery. Funded projects will have a chance to showcase their work throughout the year, so build this into your programme and budget. Individuals, sole traders, broadcasters (apart from community service broadcasters), central government departments and organisations with statutory duties to provide services for older people cannot apply. You also cannot apply if you hold an unfinished Arts and Older People award from 2024/25 or earlier. Applications are online only. The system shuts at 12 noon on the closing date, so leave plenty of time to upload your documents. The Cloonty Community Benefit Fund offers up to £5,000 to local community projects in Northern Ireland. Corby Knowe Community Benefit Fund

Community Foundation Northern Ireland

Up to £2,500Northern Ireland

The Corby Knowe Community Benefit Fund gives up to £2,500 to local projects near the Corby Knowe wind farm, off the Parkgate Road in Kells, County Antrim. It is open now and closes at 1pm on 22 October 2026, so time is short. The fund backs projects that educate, raise awareness and show community involvement in work that promotes environmental issues and healthier lifestyles. Priorities include tackling marginalisation and rural isolation; skills development and arts and cultural activities for children and teenagers, including pre-school children; activities and events that bring the community together; better use of existing community venues and outdoor spaces; local environmental and conservation management; and recruiting and developing volunteers so existing community organisations are more sustainable. Location is the key test. Your project must be within 5km of the wind farm site, and your organisation must be based within that 5km radius, measured in a straight line. If you are outside the radius, this fund will not be open to you. Gaelectric set up the fund in 2016. Dunmore Community Benefit Fund

Community Foundation Northern Ireland

Up to £2,500Northern Ireland

The Dunmore Community Benefit Fund supports local community projects near Dunmore Wind Farm. It was set up so that the wind farm, alongside its environmental benefits, also brings real social and economic benefits to people who live nearby. You can find it among the open grants listed by Community Foundation Northern Ireland. You can apply for up to £2,500. The money is for projects that are planned and run for the benefit of the local population. Projects need to be within 10 miles of the wind farm. The fund lists these priorities: community cohesion and engagement; energy efficiency and sustainability; social, cultural or sporting benefit for the local community; training and education; environmental benefit; and economic benefit. Choose the ones that best match your project. The closing date is 22 October 2026 at 1pm. With the deadline close, it is worth getting your application ready now. One practical point to note: your organisation must be located within the 10-mile radius of the wind farm. The distance is measured in a straight line, not by road, so check your location against that rule before you start. If you have already started an application, use the link emailed to you when you registered. If you are new to the process, the funder asks you to check first whether your organisation and project are eligible. Community Foundation Northern Ireland

Carn Hill Community Benefit Fund

Community Foundation Northern Ireland

Up to £3,000Northern Ireland

The Carn Hill Community Benefit Fund backs local community projects around the wind farm. It was set up by Gaelectric in 2016 and is now managed by CGN Europe, a wind energy and energy storage company. The Community Foundation for Northern Ireland lists it among its open grants. You can ask for up to £3,000. The fund is open to projects within a 6km radius of the wind farm, which includes Monkstown, Grange, Woodburn, Greenisland, Ballynure and Carnmoney. So it suits community groups and organisations rooted in those areas. The fund lists five priorities. These are skills development for young adults, intergenerational projects, projects tackling rural isolation, projects based around community arts, and projects that make better use of community space. A project that fits one or more of these will be a natural match. The closing date is 22 October 2026 at 1pm. That is close, so it is worth checking your project against the priorities and the location rules now. If you have already started an application, the Foundation asks you to carry on using the link emailed to you when you registered. One practical point: your location matters. The page says the fund is for projects in the local area around the wind farm, so organisations outside that radius should look elsewhere. Souter Charitable Trust

Souter Charitable Trust

£1,000 - £3,000National (UK-wide)

The Souter Charitable Trust supports projects that relieve human suffering, in the UK and overseas. It especially, but not exclusively, backs work with a Christian emphasis and ethos. Grants are for UK registered charities only. The Trustees cannot fund overseas organisations directly, because they are unable to carry out the necessary due diligence. If your charity works abroad, you can still apply as long as you are a UK registered charity. There is no set minimum or maximum grant. A typical grant is a one-off award of between £1,000 and £3,000. Small grants may also be made for gap year or short-term projects, as long as they run for at least one calendar year. The Trust does not fund capital building or renovation works. It also does not fund the personal health or educational needs of individuals. You apply online. To be considered at the next Trustees' meeting on 29 October 2026, your application must be in by close of business on 22 October 2026. The Trustees meet once a month, so later applications will be reviewed at a future meeting. All applications are acknowledged in due course, whether successful or not. You can apply again, but only after one full calendar year has passed since your last application. Please note that all grants are made entirely at the Trustees' discretion, and their decision is final. Official source: https://www.soutercharitabletrust.org.uk/how-to-apply. Small Grants: Woodland Creation (Wales), window 11

Welsh Government (Rural Payments Wales)

Funding amount not listedWales

Small Grants: Woodland Creation pays farmers and other landowners in Wales to plant small areas of trees, between 0.1 and 2 hectares. Window 11 opened on 20 July 2026 and closes on 23 October 2026. The scheme suits planting such as shelter woods alongside watercourses, trees in field corners or small fields, stock shelter, biodiversity planting and wood fuel. Trees must go on land that is agriculturally improved or of low environmental value, and the Welsh Government publishes a map showing which land is eligible. It pays for planting the trees and for installing fencing and gates, followed by 12 years of maintenance and premium payments to make up for lost agricultural income. Payment per hectare depends on the type of woodland and how many trees you plant per hectare. The current rates are set out in the window 10 and 11 guidance on the Welsh Government website. Unlike the larger Woodland Creation Grant, you do not need a separate plan from a registered planner, because RPW's online system creates a woodland creation plan that meets the UK Forestry Standard as part of your application. To be eligible you must be registered with the Welsh Government and have a Customer Reference Number, your fields must be in Wales and registered on the Land Parcel Identification System, and your neighbours must be happy with the planting. The rules booklet says those applying in 2026 must complete planting and claim for all capital works by 31 March 2027. Who it suits: Welsh farmers wanting to plant up to 2 hectares quickly. Act fast, as the window closes on 23 October. Official source: https://www.gov.wales/small-grants-woodland-creation-20-july-2026-23-october-2026. Last checked by GrantMatch on 14 October 2026.

Bristol Youth and Play Support Programme

Quartet Community Foundation

Up to £10,000South West England

The Bristol Youth and Play Support Programme from Quartet Community Foundation is open for applications. It funds organisations in Bristol that work with local children and young people aged 8 to 19, or up to 25 for young people with learning difficulties. You can ask for a grant towards a new or existing activity. Grants can cover core or running costs, project and activity costs, and equipment. The money cannot be used to pay back costs you have already spent, and you should plan to start spending within six months of being awarded the grant. The most you can ask for is £5,000. Partnerships of two or more organisations can apply for up to £10,000, as long as every partner meets the eligibility criteria and the funding is split in a proportionate way between them. The programme gives priority to work that meets the aims in one or more of the four Youth and Play Development Plans. These cover North, South, East Central and City Centre Bristol. The Guide for applicants explains the plans in more detail. Applications close on 26 October 2026 at 11:00 am. Competition is tough. Last round, the amount requested was nearly twice the amount available, and the foundation expects to award about 15 grants this time. Several applications were unsuccessful last time because they did not directly address the plan priorities, so read the guide carefully before you start. The foundation aims to tell applicants its decision within 8 weeks of the closing date. Official source: https://quartetcf.org.uk/grants/bristol-youth-and-play-support-programme/. Greenwich Strength in People Themed Grants 2027 to 2031

Royal Borough of Greenwich

Up to £225,000London

Royal Borough of Greenwich is investing in the voluntary, community and faith sector over the next four years, from 2027 to 2031. Strength in People themed grants are one part of that. They sit alongside other grant sizes and commissioned services. The themed grants cover nine priority areas. These are befriending and social connection for vulnerable adults; carers; community centres activity; creative health and socially engaged arts and culture; homelessness and people at risk of rough sleeping; information, guidance, advice and specialist support; SEND, learning disabilities and autism; volunteering infrastructure; and volunteering opportunities for families known to Children's Social Care. How much you can bid for depends on the theme. Befriending is up to £60,000. Carers is up to £65,000. Community centres is up to £70,000. Creative health and arts is up to £75,000. Homelessness is up to £100,000. Information, guidance and advice has three levels: up to £65,000, up to £100,000 and up to £225,000 for specialist advice and casework. Each theme sets out its purpose and the outcomes funded projects should help deliver. The Carers and SEND themes use a life course approach. You can focus on one age group or on key transition points, and you do not need to work across all ages. One practical point to note: the homelessness theme centres on a single private rented sector service. Applicants must show they can deliver it to a high standard. Download the funding prospectus for the full detail on each theme. Official source: https://www.royalgreenwich.gov.uk/help-money/voluntary-community-funding/people-themed-grants. Pathways to Work Innovation Fund

Department for Work and Pensions

Funding amount not listedNational (UK-wide)

The Pathways to Work Innovation Fund from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) pays for projects that test new or significantly different ways to support disabled people and people with long-term health conditions. Every funded project must help people prepare for work, get a job, stay in work or make progress at work. Innovation can mean a new service, a new tool, a new use of technology, a new way for organisations to work together, or a new approach for employers. It can also mean using an existing idea in a different place, with a different group of people or with an important change. Your project can focus on one place, community or group. You need to explain clearly what is new and what DWP and others could learn from it. Applications are open to organisations across the United Kingdom, including charities and voluntary organisations, social enterprises, businesses, universities and research organisations, and councils. You can apply alone or as a partnership, with one lead organisation managing the grant. Applications close on 26 October 2026 at 11:59pm. DWP will tell shortlisted applicants by 9 November 2026. Funding decisions follow from January 2027, and successful projects may begin mobilising from February 2027 once the Grant Funding Agreement is signed. One caveat: the fund is not meant to pay for an organisation simply to carry on delivering an unchanged existing service. DWP also cannot discuss or advise on your project idea before you submit. Strategic Legal Fund

Immigration Law Practitioners' Association

Up to £30,000National (UK-wide)

The Strategic Legal Fund supports legal work in the UK that goes beyond helping one person. It backs cases and projects that make a real difference to law, practice and procedures, so that the rights of asylum seekers, refugees and migrants are upheld and promoted more widely. The fund aims to tackle injustices and inconsistencies in law and practice that disadvantage or discriminate against people because of their migration status. It focuses on people who are living in poverty and who face significant disadvantage or discrimination connected to their immigration status. It suits not-for-profit organisations and firms of solicitors that give specialist level legal advice to people disadvantaged by their migration status. Firms must show that the funded work includes no element of profit and that it has a pro bono element. The most you can ask for in one application is £30,000. The fund encourages you to apply for a lesser amount. The average grant is around £12,000 to £15,000. The closing date is 26 October 2026. You do not go straight to a form. First, you contact the Immigration Law Practitioners' Association (ILPA) to outline your proposal. If your request fits the eligibility criteria, they email you an application form. Because of this first step, it is wise to get in touch as early as you can before the deadline. Guidelines are on the ILPA website, so read them before you make contact. Harwich Haven Authority Fund

Suffolk Community Foundation

Up to £5,000East of England

The Harwich Haven Authority Fund, run by Suffolk Community Foundation, pays for core costs and project costs for charitable activities in parts of Suffolk. It is open now and closes on 26 October 2026. You can ask for up to £5,000 a year. Multi-year funding may be considered, for up to 3 years, so the most you could receive is £5,000 per year over that time. If you want multi-year funding, say so on your application. The fund is for charitable, voluntary and community groups. Social enterprises can apply too. Your activities must be delivered in the Suffolk postcodes IP1 to IP15. The fund backs projects that do one or more of these things: promote interest in water-based activities, support careers in the maritime sector, maritime safety and the welfare of mariners, protect the environment, or help local communities by improving children's education or people's physical and mental health and wellbeing. It also supports people who are under-privileged or socially excluded, and the LGBTQIA+ community. In this round, the panel is especially keen to see projects that benefit the environment, build community resilience and improve health and wellbeing through nature-based work. One practical point: the foundation asks you to read its grantmaking guidelines before you apply, so you can check that you are eligible. Awards to organisations in Northumberland supporting young people aged 10 to 25 years

Community Foundation Tyne & Wear and Northumberland

Up to £1,000North East England

This award is for organisations in Northumberland that support young people aged 10 to 25. It comes from the Northumberland High Sheriff Awards Fund, run by Community Foundation Tyne & Wear and Northumberland. You can ask for up to £1,000. The fund is for organisations, not individuals. The funder lists the closing date as 26 October 2026. Before you apply for the first time, you will need an account on the funder's grantee portal. New applicants can also read the funder's eligibility information to check that your organisation and your activity are a good fit. If you need support with your application, the funder has a Help and Support page, and a set of FAQs that answers common questions. The funder lists a separate fund with the same purpose for Tyne and Wear. That one covers Gateshead, Newcastle, North Tyneside, South Tyneside and Sunderland, so it is not for Northumberland groups. One practical point. This fund has a fixed closing date, so it is not open all year. If you miss it, the funder says organisations in Tyne and Wear or Northumberland can make a general application at any time of year when no current call matches their needs. ChurchCare

ChurchCare

£1,000 - £10,000National (UK-wide)

ChurchCare is the Church of England's Cathedral and Church Buildings Division. It works with grant-giving partners to fund the conservation of historic church interiors and churchyard structures. The aim is to make sure conservation work in Anglican churches across England is done to a high standard. You can apply for several kinds of project. These include books, manuscripts and parochial libraries, church plate, churchyard structures such as tombs, walls, railings and gates, metalwork such as monumental brasses and screens, monuments, textiles, and woodwork such as pulpits, pews and screens. The items must be of historic, artistic, architectural or archaeological significance. Book and manuscript grants are offered with the National Lottery Heritage Fund, the Pilgrim Trust and the Oswald Allen bequest. Church plate grants are offered with the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths. Grants of up to £10,000 are available, and the listing gives a range of £1,000 to £10,000. Church plate grants have no set value. The deadline is 26 October 2026, with decisions by 11 December 2026. You apply using an online form and send your supporting documents with it. One practical point: the funder says there were no applications for church plate or metalwork in the last round, so it particularly encourages applications for both this time. You can also talk through whether your project is eligible with the ChurchCare team before you apply, by phone, by email or through the contact page. Grants for bells and bell frames, clocks, organs and stained glass have their own separate deadlines. Official source: https://www.actiontogether.org.uk/churchcare. iX Challenge: Identifying leaks and seepage in canal infrastructure

Innovate UK Business Connect

Funding amount not listedEngland

This is an innovation challenge from Canal & River Trust, run through Innovate UK Business Connect and its Innovation Exchange programme. The Trust wants low-cost, non-invasive ways to spot canal leaks and seepage, especially hidden leaks that cannot be seen at the ground surface. You could suit this if you have a technology proven in another sector that could be adapted for canals. Ideas can include remote sensing, drones, boat-mounted or handheld sensing, citizen-science data capture, or machine learning tools that show inspectors where to look next. The Trust also welcomes ideas that help estimate how serious a leak is. It has a large volunteer base that might help gather data. Leaks around culverts and locks are of particular interest. This is not a fixed-sum grant, and the page gives no award amount. Selected solutions may be invited to pitch to the Trust and could be considered for pilot trials. They could be adopted more widely if trials succeed and make commercial sense. Pilot budgets are still to be confirmed. Other benefits may include support from Innovate UK Business Connect, technical support, event invitations and investor introductions. Applications close at 5pm on 27 October 2026. The challenge is open to applicants across the UK. One practical point: your solution should not need canals to be drained or navigation to be badly disrupted, and it must be affordable for repeated use. Say where your system would not work, and include indicative capital and running costs if you can. National Materials Innovation Programme: CR&D Rd1

Innovate UK

£500,000 - £1mEngland

Innovate UK will invest up to £12 million in collaborative industrial research projects that move advanced materials innovations towards real-world use. This is the first round of the National Materials Innovation Programme. The full amount depends on enough high quality applications being received. Your project must focus on a significant materials innovation and fit a sub-theme within one of three prioritised high growth themes, or the strategic theme of metamaterials and metasurfaces. Future healthcare solutions and structural materials are among the themes. You must show how your innovation improves performance, functionality, productivity or sustainability. You must also give a credible route to commercialisation and show how it supports UK net zero targets. Each project needs a grant request of between £500,000 and £1 million. Projects must last 18 to 30 months, start by 1 February 2027 and end by 31 July 2029. For industrial research, grant covers up to 70% of eligible costs for micro and small organisations, 60% for medium sized organisations and 50% for large ones. The lead must be a UK registered business of any size. The consortium needs at least one UK registered micro, small or medium sized enterprise claiming grant funding. You also need at least one named end user working in one of the eight growth driving sectors of the UK's Modern Industrial Strategy. Letters of support or emails alone will not show this involvement. Applications close at 11am UK time on 28 October 2026. Competition is tough. Innovate UK's experience of similar competitions suggests you could have a 20% chance of success, and a high scoring project may still go unfunded.
